What are the Procedures for IVF Treatment? What are the Procedures for IVF Treatment?

The treatment of IVF includes several steps in order to achieve a successful pregnancy with the continuous care of the patient. These are to be discussed further-

Egg donation

It is the process by which a woman donates eggs to help another woman to conceive through a medicinal reproductive treatment or for biomedical research. The person who is donating the egg is hence called a donor. This is one of the prerequisites based on which the IVF treatment is initiated. Some of the low cost IVF centre in Mumbai can be consulted for such support.

Sperm donation

It is the process by which a man donates his sperm which is used in artificial insemination, for the reason that, either he or his partner is having any hormonal disturbances in conceiving and an urge to get medicinal assistance is needed.

As a whole, we can understand that in the process of IVF, the eggs are hatched out from the shell of a woman's body and after combining it with the sperm, it is again placed back to the uterus, which gives rise to the pregnancy in the woman's body.

Both the donor is needed when any one of the couples fails to achieve pregnancy through a natural process and this is where medicinal intervention is demanded.

Process to begin

Several steps are involved in the process of IVF- stimulation of ovaries, egg retrieval, sperm retrieval, fertilization of an egg, and embryo transfer. It generally takes three weeks to complete one cycle of IVF. The process can even take longer as sometimes the mentioned steps are split into different steps further. The IVF treatment cost in Mumbai is considerately minimal.

Fertilization

When the combination of sperm with egg is completed, it takes around 18 hours for determining the occurrence of fertilization and then another 2 to 4 days to check if the embryo is starting to develop gradually. The embryos mostly stay in the laboratory for five days in total.

Blastocyst

A blastocyst is a stage of development (five days after fertilization is done) that an embryo would move out of the fallopian tube and enter into the uterus. Once the blastocyst starts to get attached to the uterine lining, the implantation process starts.

Duration of embryo implantation

When a blastocyst embryo interacts with the receptive uterine lining, it leads to successful implantation. It generally occurs 6-10 days after the egg retrieval, which can be calculated as 1 to 5 days after a blastocyst transfer. In turn, it is equal to day 20-24 of a natural menstrual cycle. If you are concerned about the IVF treatment cost in India then do not worry as the cost is considerably low.

The blastocyst once hatched out from the shell, the basic attachment with the uterine cells begins within one day.

Factors affecting embryo implantation in women

Age plays a vital factor in determining implantation success. It is because of the increased rate of chromosomal abnormalities in eggs in old age. IVF with a chromosomal screening of the embryos – PGT-A – prior to transfer is required to overcome the “aging egg” problem In case of failure, it is recommended for waiting for one full menstrual cycle and then try for another IVF stimulation. It can take up to 6 weeks for inflammation to get resolved. Hence, the same duration of time before restarting the process again is required.
